About Us

We hold training workshops throughout Ireland and the UK. To date we have held almost 300 Sonas workshops and twenty Anam workshops.

This year we will be holding SIMS workshops in Dublin and at other locations around the country, as well as London and other parts of the UK. It is an exciting development for us and we hope many family carers and others who work in organisations such as Age Action Ireland, The Carers Association and Our Lady’s Hospice Harold’s Cross will attend our training. Our work includes presentations at national and international conferences relating to dementia and intellectual disabilities. We have also given lectures to post-graduate students in Trinity College Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology. Articles about the Sonas aPc approach have been published in journals such as The Journal of Dementia Care and books including Care-Giving in Dementia and Perspectives on Rehabilitation and Dementia.Sonas aPc was awarded its FETAC QA Agreement Certificate in November 2007.

FETAC

The award was presented to Sinéad Grennan by Sean Haughey, Minister of State at the Department of Education and Stan McHugh, CEO of FETAC.The Sonas FETAC Level 5 Module has been chosen by Leading Healthcare Providers Skillnet as an elective studies module for the FETAC Level 5 Healthcare Support Certificate which it is delivering to its members nationwide. As the Sonas programme is only for older people with dementia or other types of cognitive impairment, it is only applicable to those who are caring for this client group.
